irish hunger memorial


created by artist brian tolle, the irish hunger memorial at battery park city is designed to raise public awareness of the irish famine of 1845-1852.one and a half million irish were lost to famine related death and the diaspora. many irish migrated to america where we still are today. hunger throughout the world is highlighed through this memorial. it was very moving.

It is very deep within and often brings to light issues which need to be addressed. It is the planet of obsession. Try to manifest those qualities in ourselves that we admire in 'the other'.
